#powerball Kansas Business Owner Wins $50,000 Playing Powerball in Missouri

February 8th, 2017

The owner of a Leawood, Kansas, pet grooming service is planning to help a local shelter after she matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number to win $50,000 in the Jan. 5 drawing. Duan "Ivy" McDonald, 46, said she loves animals and has always dreamed of winning some money and being able to help a shelter.

"I love dogs," said McDonald, who lives in Olathe, Kansas. "I wish I could win a big jackpot; I would build a new shelter."

Along with donating some of her prize money to her local shelter, she said she might like to adopt a big dog.

"I have two little dogs, a Maltese and a Yorkie," she said. "I want to adopt a big dog, but we would need to fence in our yard."

The owner of Dazzle Pawz, McDonald said she has been checking the prices of fences for her yard. She said she will also put some of the prize money towards expenses from a recent trip to New York.

McDonald purchased her winning ticket at Minit Mart, 10245 State Line Road, in Kansas City. She let the computer pick the numbers on her winning ticket.
