#powerball Powerball Provides $100,000 Prize in Springfield

July 7th, 2016

A Springfield, Missouri man used the Power Play option to turn a recent $50,000 Powerball win into a $100,000 payout. David Price, 56, matched four of five white-ball numbers and the Powerball number drawn on June 18. The feat comes with a prize of $50,000, but because Price also played the Power Play feature, his winnings were multiplied by the Power Play number drawn.

"I just had some extra money that day and just went with it," he said of his decision to tack the $1 Power Play onto his Quick Pick purchase.

It wasn't until a week later that he realized he'd won, but it didn't take long for him to figure out what he wanted to do with his winnings.

"I've got about all of it spent," Price shared, noting plans for "a really good computer and a trip - maybe to San Francisco to see the Giants play baseball." He also plans to help out a few family and friends before investing the rest.

Price purchased his winning ticket at Price Cutter, 1831 W. Kearney St., in Springfield.
