A Noel man has plans to expand his business and save for his children with a $1 million Powerball prize he won from the Missouri Lottery. Leonardo Angeles, 48, operates Angeles Auto Service in Southwest City. He said he plays the Lottery twice a week, usually buying Powerball and Mega Millions tickets. He bought a Quick Pick ticket for the May 14 Powerball drawing at BJ’s Mini Mart, 607 N. Cliffside Drive in Noel, that turned out to be worth $1 million.
“When I went to the store, I told the lady, ‘Will you check my ticket?’ She said, ‘You know you have $1 million dollars?’ ‘Yeah, right,’ I said,†recalled Angeles.
It took him a few more days to confirm the win.
“I told my friends. Nobody believed me. I don’t believe it either,†he said when claiming the prize in the Springfield Lottery office on June 7.
He credited the win with “saving his business,†and he said he’ll keep playing.
BJ’s Mini Mart received a $1,000 bonus for selling a winning Match 5 ticket.
