A couple from Bland has a reason to celebrate after winning a $50,000 Missouri Lottery prize. In fact, Julia and Barry Baker plan to keep it low-key, just like retirement has been since the couple relocated from St. Louis more than a decade ago. Barry is a regular player of several Draw Games like Pick 3, Show Me Cash and Powerball at least twice a week. He won $50 on his favorite Pick 3 numbers recently, so he used that money to pay for more tickets including a Quick Pick Powerball ticket worth $50,000.
"With that, I bought my regular week's tickets, and Powerball come in. So, the $50 paid for those tickets, and then I won $50,000 on Powerball," recalled Baker.
Baker won the $50,000 prize for matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number. He purchased the ticket at Break Time, 702 W. Highway 28, in Owensville.
Julia Baker is a Lotto player, and she talked about winning free tickets regularly.
"That would be nice to win that free ticket," Barry Baker imagined, "and then win the big one on that free ticket!"
He will continue to the play the Lottery and talked about his favorite games.
"I play Powerball all the time," he said. "Show Me Cash, where you pay the extra dollar - EZ Match yeah, I play that every day. Most of the time it pays for my ticket with the EZ Match."
Both Bakers said they would continue to enjoy retirement and listed their plans for the windfall.
"We've got three kids, so I figure we'll give each $5,000. Then I'm going to pay off my tractor and put the rest in the bank," said Barry Baker.
