This week, Antonio F. Vazquez of Artesia claimed his $100,000 Powerball prize. Vazquez's Quick Pick ticket matched the white ball numbers 4, 8, 19, 27 and the Powerball number 10. This normally is a $50,000 prize. However, Vazquez purchased Power Play, a $1 add on that multiplies non-jackpot prizes. He said he typically did not purchase Power Play. But when the attendant at Shop-N-Go at 306 N. 13th St in Artesia asked him if he'd like to add it, he did! The Power Play number that night was 2, which doubled his prize.
Vazquez arrived at the Lottery with the ticket tucked away in an unusual location. When asked by the Lottery claim staff how they could help him, he rolled up his sleeve, revealed a large bandage on his forearm and removed it to reveal his lucky ticket.
Vazquez said, "I feel blessed." He plans to use his winnings to help his church and family.
