He might not have won the $500 million Powerball jackpot for the Jan. 6 drawing, but $50,000 is a pretty good consolation prize for one Missouri Lottery player. Upon hearing about the growing jackpot, Joseph Rackhaus's wife requested that her husband run an errand for her.
"(She)" said you better go buy some tickets, so I went and bought some tickets," laughed the winner, while claiming his prize at the Lottery's St. Louis regional office on Jan. 8, adding that his wife told him he had to share his $50,000 prize with her.
Rackhaus, 69, purchased his winning Powerball ticket from Huck's Food Store, 3500 Patterson Road in Florissant, and used Quick Pick to correctly match four of the numbers drawn and the Powerball.
The grandparents plan on paying off bills with their $50,000 win, adding that they had already purchased tickets for the next Powerball drawings on Jan. 9 and Jan. 13.
