A group of 43 co-workers from southeast Iowa pooled their money together and bought a ticket that won a $50,000 Powerball prize in the Dec. 16 drawing.
Edward Bowman of Burlington claimed the prize on behalf of the group, calling themselves "The Lucky 43." Bowman claimed the group's prize Monday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. He told lottery employees that all of the group members work together at a Burlington factory, and that they would be splitting the prize.
The winning ticket, which was purchased at Circle K, 333 N. Roosevelt Ave. in Burlington, matched four white balls and the Powerball in the Dec. 16 drawing to win a $50,000 prize.
