A Wayne County man and his family are ready to enjoy 2015 after he won a $1 million prize playing the Michigan Lottery's Powerball game.
Brian Blust, of Canton, won $1 million by matching the first five numbers drawn in the Nov. 5 Powerball drawing. He bought his lucky ticket at Mitch's Party Store, located at 37504 Michigan Avenue in Wayne..
"I couldn't believe my eyes when I checked my ticket," said Blust. "I sent a picture of the ticket to my brother in Ohio and asked him to check it for me. He called me and told me the good news. I still can’t believe I won $1 million!".
Blust regularly plays Mega Millions and Powerball often picking his own numbers and buying his tickets at the same store. As luck would have it, a traffic jam caused him make a fateful stop at Mitch's Party Store to buy his winning easy pick ticket. He kept the ticket in a safety deposit box at a local bank until visiting the Lottery's headquarters today to claim his big prize.
"It was a long wait to claim my prize, but I wanted to start the New Year out with a bang," said Blust.
An avid golfer, Blust plans to take a family vacation and golf trip with his new found wealth and invest the remainder.
