"I was driving home from Pennsylvania when I decided to stop at the store to buy a snack and a Powerball ticket. I never imagined it would be such a lucky stop!" said Richard Clodfelter after winning a $50,000 Powerball prize. The lucky Norris City resident's ticket matched four of the five numbers – 07 – 10 - 12 - 22 - 31 - (03) - in the Saturday, July 26 Powerball drawing.
Clodfelter, a well treatment pump operator, has been playing his regular numbers for the past five months. He was shocked when four of his numbers hit. "I was so nervous I couldn't hold the ticket straight!" he said.
Clodfelter plans to save his winnings and buy something special for his wife. When asked what advice he would give to other lottery players he said, "Believe that anything's possible."
The winning ticket was purchased at Rock Bottom Liquor, 1109 West Main Street in Carmi. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
