#powerball Sistersville Woman Wins $2 Million Playing Powerball

April 7th, 2014

West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave introduced Beverly Swartzmiller of Sistersville as the state's latest Powerball match-five winner at a press conference in Charleston today.

Swartzmiller, who was accompanied by her husband Herb at the press conference, purchased her lucky ticket at the ParMar 10 in Sistersville.

"I couldn't believe it," Swartzmiller said. "I do not play the lottery regularly and I almost didn't buy any tickets this time. I had gone out to get a pizza and as I passed the ParMar it was crowded and decided at first not to get one, however I changed my mind. I parked down the street and I went in and got five tickets with the Powerplay option. I am glad I did."

West Virginia's newest millionaire also has plans for her winnings.

"I have children and grandchildren that we can help a little with this, and of course our church," she said.
