#powerball Las Cruces Man Wins $1 Million New Mexico Lottery Prize

February 11th, 2014

A Las Cruces man claimed a $1 million Powerball® prize today at New Mexico Lottery headquarters in Albuquerque.

In the game's Jan. 15 drawing, Brian Heim had a quick-pick ticket that matched the winning white ball numbers of 7, 8, 9, 24 and 29. Heim missed the red Powerball of 25 to land the night's jackpot of $93 million.

"My life has changed," Heim said. "Now I can spend more time with my child."

The newly minted millionaire said most of the prize will be set aside for his only child.

Heim discovered his good fortune Friday when he checked his ticket at a store.

"I didn't believe it," he said. "I still don't believe it."

Heim purchased his lucky ticket at Chucky's Corner Store where he has purchased lottery tickets for the past 10 years. Previously, the store has sold 10 large prize-winning tickets paying between $700 and $35,000. For selling the $1 million-winning ticket, Chucky's Corner Store, located at 800 E. Thorpe Road in Las Cruces, is eligible for a $2,500 New Mexico Lottery bonus.
