August 19th, 2013

The Powerball ticket sold in Pooler worth $1 million from the Aug. 7 drawing was claimed Friday. Sean Nelson of Pooler was one of three Georgia Lottery players to match the first five winning numbers from the $448 million Powerball drawing.

While looking in his wallet for a receipt Friday morning, the 26-year-old saw the Powerball ticket and checked the results from the drawing on his computer. He claimed his winnings at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Savannah.

"I almost fell out of my seat," Nelson recalled.

Parker's #0037, 10 N. Godley Station Blvd. in Pooler, sold the lucky Quik Pik ticket.

"I picked up a soda and a ticket," he explained. "I feel like I'm in a dream."

Nelson, a branch manager for an employment agency, has no immediate plans for his windfall.

"It hasn't set in yet," he shared. "I'll pay off bills and maybe take a vacation."
