A Douglasville woman has landed a $1 million Powerball prize from the Aug. 3 drawing. Trena Tusinski matched the first five numbers, winning a $1 million prize.
Tusinski, who works in medical imaging, claimed her prize Aug. 6 at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.
Shell Food Mart, 4081 Anneewakee Road in Douglasville, sold the winning ticket.
"I was on my way to my second job when I stopped for a ticket," Tusinski explained. "I asked the clerk to scan the ticket I already had. She paused and said, 'This one is a winner!'"
The lucky winner was in shock.
"I grabbed my phone and called my sister," Tusinski said. "I was shouting, 'I just hit the Powerball!'"
Having worked a second job for five years, Tusinski intends to pamper herself.
"I want to pay off bills, buy a new house, help my family and buy a new car," she shared. "I'm going to invest, but I want to treat myself for working hard."
