#powerball Boise Couple Claims $1 Million Powerball Prize

July 16th, 2013

Audrey Eckert and her husband David only buy one ticket for every draw of Powerball and Mega Millions, usually from the Maverik located at the corner of Franklin and Maple Grove in Boise. That single line of devotion to playing paid off today when they claimed a $1,000,000 Powerball prize from last Wednesday night's draw.

"I checked the winning numbers in the newspaper on Thursday morning, and noticed that we'd matched at least three numbers. Then I noticed we matched four and then five numbers. I just couldn't believe it," exclaimed Audrey. "Then I compared my ticket numbers to the ones on the Idaho Lottery's website and they matched, too. You do just need one ticket to win."

When working around the house, Audrey will often ask David if she can get him anything. The answer is always the same, "Yes, a $1 million."

The couple plans to use their winnings to help ease a transition into retirement. David works for Darigold and has been thinking about retiring.

"We don't have to worry about that anymore. Or worry about insurance once we retire either," added Audrey.

For their part in selling the winning ticket, Maverick will receive a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $20,000.
