#powerball Pittsfield, MA man claims $1 million Powerball prize

June 11th, 2013

A Pittsfield, MA man came just one number shy of winning a $363.9 million jackpot in the May 15, 2013 Powerball drawing, but for matching the first five numbers on his quic pic ticket Brian Kelly won the multi-state game's $1 million second prize.

Kelly, who came to the Lottery's Braintree, MA headquarters with his wife, son, and daughter, received the prize in a one-time lump sum payment (less taxes). He plans to use the winnings to pay off student loans and some of the mortgage, and eventually take a trip somewhere with the family.

Kelly purchased his Powerball quic pic ticket at A-Mart located at 524 North Street in Pittsfield. The store received a $10,000 commission on the sale.
