#powerball Loganville man claims $1M Powerball prize

May 21st, 2013

Lee Pietrobon of Loganville is celebrating a $1 million Powerball prize from the Georgia Lottery. Pietrobon matched the first five numbers from the May 15 Powerball drawing, winning $1 million.

Pietrobon, 78, used his own combination and purchased his lucky numbers at Publix Super Market #0789, 2715 Loganville Highway S.W. in Loganville.

A second winning ticket worth $1 million from Wednesday's Powerball drawing was sold at QuikTrip #713R, 1350 S. Cobb Drive S.E. in Marietta. A winner has not yet come forward to claim the prize. Powerball winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.

"I picked the No. 2 because we're a couple – me and my wife – and our birthdays are in there," the grandfather of four said. "By golly, we lucked out!"

"I wrote the numbers down last night and looked over them this morning," Pietrobon said. "I couldn't believe what I was seeing."

He and his wife, Pat, have no plans at the moment for their windfall.
