August 29th, 2017

The two $1 million prizes won on Powerball tickets sold in Massachusetts for the multi-state game's August 23rd drawing that featured a $758.7 million jackpot have been claimed.

Rosanne Grady of Watertown and Elsie Campbell Beckford of Dorchester both claimed their $1,000,000 prize (less tax withholdings) Friday, August 25 at the Lottery's Braintree headquarters.

Both winners selected their own numbers to match the winning combination that was drawn. Grady's winning ticket was purchased at Handy Variety, 95 Common St. in Watertown, while Campbell Beckford bought her lucky ticket at Sandy's Variety, 378 Washington St. in Dorchester. Each location will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling a $1 million prize winning ticket.

The $758.7 million jackpot was won by Mavis Wanczyk of Chicopee, MA. It is the largest jackpot prize won on a single ticket in U.S. lottery history. Wanczyk purchased her winning ticket at Pride Station & Store, 27 Montgomery St. in Chicopee.
