A series of numbers ending in one proved to be the correct combination for Rose Henggeler of Stanberry, Mo.
"I play Powerball every week. I buy my (Powerball) tickets for two plays and always play Power Play," said Henggeler. "I have four sets of numbers I like to play."
Henggeler won a $50,000 prize by using her own combination of lucky numbers to correctly match four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball in the May 6 drawing, which were: 11, 21, 31, 41 and 59 with a Powerball of 21.
"I just decided one day to pick all the numbers that end in a one. I have a sister with a birthday on the 21st and a daughter with a birthday on the 21st, so I put that down as the Powerball," explained Henggeler.
When purchasing her ticket from Casey's General Store, 218 E. Fourth St. in Stanberry, Henggeler chose to include Power Play for an additional $1. The Power Play number drawn for the May 6 drawing was three, increasing her $50,000 prize to $150,000.
"I checked (the numbers) in the St. Joseph News Press on Sunday morning, and I thought, 'Well, they look like my numbers!' I thought I was dreaming and hadn't woken up," said Henggeler.
Outside of possibly re-shingling her home, Henggeler had no definitive plans for the $150,000 when claiming her prize on May 12.
