#powerball  Indiana Roofer Claims $50,000 Powerball Prize

August 25th, 2017

An Indiana man was still in shock more than two weeks after he realized he won $50,000 on Powerball.

Ronnie Rader visited Hoosier Lottery headquarters in Indianapolis to claim his prize May 18. His winning ticket was from the May 6 drawing.

"I won on the 6th, and it's like, 'Let's put this on the back burner,'" Ronnie said.

A roofer by trade, Ronnie said the weather was too great for him to take a day off to come to claim his prize until May 18. His business partner, his brother, was the first person he told about the win.

Ronnie picked his own numbers, matching 4 of 5 numbers and the Powerball. He purchased the winning ticket from Mexico Marathon, 3963 N. Mexico Road in Mexico, Indiana. He's a regular at the store, and when he went in to check his ticket, they immediately asked if he was the $50,000 winner. Ronnie said store employees were excited for him.

Ronnie plans to put the money in the bank.
