#megamillions Two Dollars and a $133,000,000 Dream Come True... in Queens

New York City Transit Authority Collections Agent Aubrey Boyce is the $133,000,000 Mega Man. The eight-year MTA veteran from Kew Gardens, Queens today collected his over-sized check for the much talked-about $133,000,000 Mega Millions drawing of July 7, 2009. Boyce who described himself as the "quiet, laid back type" collected his new fortune as the Trustee of the Archibald Trust; an asset management tool he created recently to help him administer his Mega windfall.

"Shocked and still a little nervous about the whole thing; that's how I feel," said the 49-year old Boyce. "It's still very much a dream, a dream come true."

Boyce who typically spends $12 a week on Lottery tickets, usually Mega Millions and Lotto, said he laid out $2 on the morning of July 7th for two sets of Quick Pick numbers for that evening's Mega Millions drawing, but never expected to win.

"I went to a different store the next day to check the winning numbers," he said. "I saw my numbers and got a little nervous. I went online to double check and there they were again; 25, 27, 35, 38, 39, and (Mega Ball) 28. My wife and I haven't really slept since."

Boyce said he immediately signed his ticket and kept it locked in a safe deposit box until he and Francis, his wife of 15 years, felt it was time to step forward. "We were hoping things might calm down a little bit" he said. "But when that didn't happen, we figured now was as good a time as any."

Boyce purchased his $133,000,000 winner at Shiv Convenience on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens.  The store, which has been selling Mega Millions tickets since the game's debut in 2002, received a $10,000 bonus from the New York Lottery for selling New York's latest Mega Millions jackpot winner.  The store and its current owner, Jayeshkumar Patel, have also received worldwide acclaim in recent weeks as the lucky little store that sold the winning Mega ticket.

Boyce, on behalf of the Trust, opted to receive his jackpot prize as a lump sum with a cash value of $82,762,912 before required tax withholdings. The net amount to be awarded to the Trust is $54,648,351. Boyce said his plans for the money remain up in the air, as do his plans for work.

"I used to play the Lottery so I could win big; big enough to retire, have enough to live on. Now, I really don't know what I'll do beyond just taking care of my family."

The New York Lottery contributed nearly $2.54 billion in fiscal year 2008-9 to help support education in New York State, over 12 percent of total state education funding to local school districts.  The Lottery's ongoing commitment to education also includes the awarding of more than 1,100 Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Scholarships annually to high school students pursuing their higher education in New York State.  Since 1999, the Lottery has awarded more than 11,500 scholarships representing a total commitment of almost $50 million.  The New York Lottery continues to be North America's largest and most profitable Lottery, earning over $36.7 billion in education support statewide since its founding over 40 years ago.
