December 11, 2013 – Elie S. Bassil of West Yarmouth today claimed a $1 million prize that he won for matching the first five numbers selected in last night's Mega Millions drawing. He is one of five ticket holders playing across the country who came just one number shy of winning the multi-state game's $344 million jackpot. Bassil, who works as a car mechanic, received the prize in a single lump sum payment (less taxes). He is planning to take a trip after Christmas and may start his own business with the winnings. Bassil played his Mega Millions quik pic ticket at Cumberland Farms #2262 located at 1297 Route 28 in Yarmouth. The store will receive a $10,000 commission on the sale. There was no jackpot winner in last night's Mega Millions drawing, so the top prize for Friday, December 13th jumps to an estimated $400 million. Mega Millions tickets are $1.00 and can be purchased at any of the Massachusetts Lottery's 7,400 licensed retailers across the state. Mega Millions is played in 45 jurisdictions: 43 states, plus Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:00 Eastern Time, and are posted on the Massachusetts Lottery's website: masslottery.com.
