RELEASE DATE: 7/7/2018
The Mega Millions jackpot has reached top 15 territory! An estimated $306 million prize ($185.5 million cash) will be offered on Tuesday, July 10, after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night. If won, it would be the fifteenth largest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions!
The winning numbers for July 6 are the white balls 2, 10, 46, 50 and 56, plus the gold Mega Ball 16. One ticket, sold in Florida, matched the five white balls to win $1 million; 17 tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball for the game's $10,000 third prize. Two of those are actually worth $30,000 each because they included the optional Megaplier (available in most states for an extra $1 purchase).
There were a total of 707,086 winning tickets Friday night at all prize levels. Since the last jackpot was won on May 4, there have been more than 9.1 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 18 worth $1 million or more.
Since Mega Millions began in 2002, jackpots have been won in July at least once every year except in 2014 and 2017. In all, 22 July drawings have produced jackpot winners over the years, including a $536 million jackpot on July 8, 2016. That prize, won in Indiana, remains the third largest in the game's history and the largest ever awarded on a single ticket.
The jackpot was last won in Ohio on May 4, when the ABC XYZ Trust collected $142 million. Two other jackpots have been awarded this year – $451 million on January 5 (in Florida) and $533 million on March 30 (in New Jersey). The latter prize is the fourth largest in the history of Mega Millions.
