RELEASE DATE: 3/14/2018
The Mega Millions jackpot keeps rolling! No ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – the white balls 6, 30, 58, 60 and 61, plus the gold Mega Ball 17 – so the estimated jackpot for the next drawing on Friday, March 16, will be a whopping $345 million ($205 million cash) – the ninth largest jackpot in the game's history!
March has historically been a good month for jackpot wins – over the years, 17 have been won during the month. Of those, three rank among the ten largest Mega Millions jackpots in history, including the record Mega Millions prize of $656 million on March 30, 2012.
While the jackpot remains elusive, the March 13 drawing produced four winning tickets that matched the five white balls for the game's second prize. Three are worth $1 million each and were sold in Indiana, Kentucky and New York. The fourth, sold in Connecticut, is worth $5 million after the 5X Megaplier was drawn because it included the optional Megaplier purchase. It is the fifth multi-million Match 5 ticket sold this year due to the Megaplier; others since January 1 were won in Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and Illinois.
Tuesday's drawing produced a total of 832,993 winning tickets at all prize levels. Since the last jackpot was won on January 5, there have been more than 9.9 million winning tickets sold, including 27 worth $1 million or more.
The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won on January 5 at $451 million; a 20-year-old Florida man claimed that prize as the trustee of Secret 007, LLC.
