#megamillions Jackpot approaches $300 million; $1 million won in New York and Texas

The Mega Millions jackpot rolls again! The fifteenth largest prize in the history of Mega Millions – an estimated $290 million ($172 million cash) – will be offered on Friday, March 9. The jackpot continues to grow after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – the white balls 1, 4, 26, 35 and 39, plus the gold Mega Ball 22.

Over the years, 17 jackpots have been won during the month of March, including the record Mega Millions prize of $656 million (March 30, 2012) and two other top ten jackpots.

Two tickets matched the five white balls Tuesday night to win $1 million, one each in New York and Texas.

In total, the March 6 drawing produced more than 675,000 winning tickets at all prize levels. Since the last jackpot was won on January 5, there have been almost 8.4 million winning tickets sold, including 23 worth $1 million or more.

   

The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won on January 5 at $451 million; a 20-year-old Florida man claimed that prize as the trustee of Secret 007, LLC.
