#megamillions Jackpot to $306 million; $4 million won in Washington

There's plenty of year-end excitement for Mega Millions, as the jackpot rolls to an estimated $306 million ($191 million cash) for the next drawing on Friday, December 29. No ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – the white balls 10, 12, 20, 38 and 41 plus the gold Mega Ball 25. Friday's jackpot, if won, would be the 13th largest prize in the 15 year history of Mega Millions.

While the jackpot continues to grow, the day after Christmas proved to be a windfall for a lucky ticket holder in Washington. A ticket sold in that state matched the five white balls to win the Match 5 second prize, and because it included the optional Megaplier (a $1 extra purchase), it is worth $4 million after the 4x Megaplier was drawn!

It's the fifth Match 5 ticket that has been increased by the Megaplier since the Mega Millions matrix changed after the October 27 drawing – three were worth $4 million each (sold in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Washington) and two were worth $2 million each (both sold in Texas).

The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won at $42 million on October 13; that prize was shared by winners in Michigan and Rhode Island. Earlier 2017 jackpots were won in New York ($105 million on September 22), Illinois ($393 million on August 11), Arkansas ($177 million on March 31) and California ($191 million on January 27 and $61 million on April 28).
