#megamillions Winning ticket sold at Stateline now worth $191 million!

January 29th, 2017

RELEASE DATE: 1/30/2017

SACRAMENTO – While we wait for the winner of last Saturday's Mega Millions jackpot to come forward, we have an update on the big win. Because sales throughout the country turned out slightly better than projected, the jackpot has been revised from the estimated $188 million to $191 million!

We will not know who the winner is until the ticket is claimed, but here's what we know about the winning ticket. It was sold in Nipton (San Bernardino County) at Primm Valley Lotto, which is located at Interstate 15 and Stateline. It matched all six numbers: 61, 53, 54, 17, 37 and the Mega number 8.

With the revised jackpot, the winner will now have the option of taking the full $191 million spread out over 30 years, or a lump sum amount of more than $114.1 million (less federal taxes).

Primm Valley Lotto, which sells the greatest volume of California Lottery tickets anywhere in the state, is a big winner as well! It will be receiving a $955,000 retailer bonus just for selling the winning ticket. (This bonus is paid from a separate fund and is not deducted from the winner's prize.)

We strongly encourage the winner to immediately SIGN THE BACK OF YOUR TICKET IN INK and keep it in a safe place until you can get to one of the nine California Lottery District Office Locations. The winner has one year from the date of the draw to claim their prize.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states (plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased from any of the 22,000 California Lottery retailers or one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers. Please visit the California Lottery's Mega Millions site for more information on how to play.

The California Lottery is a $6 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State's General Fund. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation.
